MY PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE: NATURAL & ORGANIC

Natural and minimalist lifestyle photography evokes the feeling of wellness, apothecary and simplicity. I love this style of photography and specialize in this aesthetic often using texture and soft colors. Neutral tones help me create images that depict a calm, holistic and natural lifestyle.

By using neutral tones and texture in my photography, I keep everything feeling very warm and organic.
There’s nothing complicated, and instead, your baby is the focus of my photos.

Neutral tones are often earth-colored tones that relate to the natural elements of our outdoor world. Neutral tones can be the color of sand, the color of water, or the color of dust, for example. These tones often range on the warmer scale. In my style of photography, I often reference the warm earth tones of nature such as the colors of the desert, fields and ocean. Instead of a red or orange tone, I will use terra cotta or rust. As an alternative to using a bright green or blue, I will use sage green or a morning fog blue.

I use natural light whenever possible.

The early morning is my favorite time for scheduling studio sessions. The neutral tones in photography are best captured by using natural light, and my home studio is bathed in the beautiful light at the start of the day . When shooting outdoors, I love the capture the golden hour at the end of the day. When this is not possible, I look for an overcast afternoon where the clouds will create a beautiful, natural softbox for your beautiful images.

I use props with natural materials.

Instead of artificial plastic and metal, I use props that are made with materials found in nature. Examples of these could be a wooden bowl, hanging eucalyptus, or jute, linen and muslin fabrics.

Less is more, so I keep it simple.

I tend to keep my backdrops and setups as simple as possible, and don’t overcomplicate it. Less is more and I want your baby’s soft, wrinkly skin, wispy hair and heart-tugging expressions to tell the story in your little one’s photos.
